It's a mixture of allergies and the common cold but it has me shivering and shaking. Multi-vitamins are so the way to go.

Is it really only Monday? Apparently so. Last week kind of flew by, I still don't know where all the time went. I'm sick and tired from being sick and tired this weekend. I didn't stand a chance. I got home from the airport and my Dad sounded like Kermit the Frog.

    Health, health, health.

The big apple on Friday for Elle's grad. I just have to remember to pack everything and I should be good to go.

No time for talking, only living. JKL, guys.

Time for the heater to go back on.

I don't get political or up on my high horse very often, but fuck the cops. I'd already lost my respect for them before this, but this makes me flat-out despise them.

Last night, safe and warm in my bed, I was reading twitter updates from various people about Philly cops and what they were doing to the members of the Bamboozle Road Show. Like the bands or hate the bands, if what they're saying is even 10% true, those cops deserve to have their badges taken away.

The worst part to me is the lack of recourse these bands have. They're in a different city every night. I bet ticketing them is a cop's wet dream, because they figure the band isn't going to bother fighting a parking ticket. Not only that, if they're attacked by the police, who do they call? What are they supposed to do? Fuck this shit, man.

    Chest Dent

Please keep the tape rollin', boys keep strumming those guitars.
We need a record of our failures, we must document our loves.

[Psst. And so it never started and it will never stop just like I am and you are.]

Travel and discontent go hand in hand. I dislike my city. I rescind some comments about Chicago being failcago. It's still got its weak points: Shitty drivers, wind, Ryan Luciani. But it's also got some strong points: History, CTA, nice bars.

I didn't care for the venue's neighborhood, or the venue all that much but it was the secondary concern, really. The weekend was full of TWSS and high-fives for our awesomeness. I solemnly swear I am never doing a non-red-eye to Toronto again. That flight drags.

Writing up the concert and whatnot later. It's time to mainline coffee right now.

You know things are fucked up when you think -17 is warm. Dude, after -37 last week, I'll take it. I don't really know what I'd do if it was cold and humid. We're kind of lucky that it's dry cold. Either way, I've managed to pick up a spectacular case of the flu. In the last 24 hours, it's increased ten-fold. I wished for sweet, sweet death tonight. Death didn't come.

I just found out that there's a BluDot retailer right next to my office. This could be a very bad thing. Apartmenttherapy continues to be the downfall of my existence. As does Chapters, my own place of employment. Really, I'd like to just be independently wealthy and buy all the shit my heart desires.

I went to work tonight even though I skipped out on work today. Well, less skipped out on, more slept so I didn't look completely like death. I'm fairly certain I contaminated the entire store. And as usual, I found about a hundred books that I'd like to buy. And Jarred was hot. The end.

Now, I'm going to go to sleep and pretend that I won't be sick when I wake up. Even though I will be.

My life has become an interesting pop song...

But no one is singing along. Perhaps that's because I haven't told anyone the melody.

This past week has been non-stop go go go. I worked Monday night and because we dicked around there, we didn't get out of the theatre until 2 a.m. Yay for working longer than you paid yourself for!

Tuesday through Thursday I volunteered at the film festival. Since last night was my last night at the film festival, Davis decided we were going to drink rum all night while working. This wasn't particularly difficult for me as my job was to scan in prepurchased tickets and download film box office control codes. He, however, was working in booth, threading projectors that are as old as Alabama. Between him, me, and another guy named Chad, we finished off half a 26 of white rum.

Apparently that wasn't enough for us. No, we had to go consume more alcoholic beverages at a place called Bottlescrew Bill's. They're famous for Around The World In Eighty Beers. If you finish all eighty beers in a year, you get a plaque with your name on it. A boy from my office finished them in a matter of two months. It was kind of awesome. Anyway, last night we slammed back beer, shots consisting of Pear, Creme de Menthe, and Sambuca, as well as Sour Jacks at the end of the night and vodka slimes. This still was not enough for us! We went back to Davis' friend's place and continued to drink vodka, rum, and something called Wild Turkey, which Davis made exceptionally strong and I didn't finish. He took one sip at the end of the night and said "I am so damn proud of you for even making it halfway through that cup, Mindy."

We stumbled out of there just after 3 a.m., two drinks and a whole lot of Michael Jackson later. Funnily enough, when we left the theatre to buy the original rum, Davis told me about a party where he and Clements both slept with girls from our theatre and he said he did not picture the evening ending like that. As we were walking to the hotel to get a cab, we talked about how we definitely didn't see this evening coming. And then we decided to hang out more.

I proceeded to cab it home and pour myself into bed around 4 a.m. and then wake up at 6:30 a.m. to get ready for work. If I pushed getting out of bed to 6:50 a.m., well, that's between me and my blankets.

Remember that time that I would only smoke marlboros?

Me either. This past night was a gong-show. I wish I could accurately represent what happened? But in order:

    1. Renaldo, giving us some Mean Girls. Madge being straight-up 50s.
    2. Not getting enough drinks but being danced all up on right away.
    3. Having two gays to rescue you instead of just one.
    4. Chugging coolers.
    5. Hot wrist-bandana guy being too hot for real life.
    6. Meeting a pornstar and not realizing he was a pornstar until Landon recognized from pornographic material he has studied.
    7. Rosalie and Alex coming to an afterparty with us.
    8. Our own afterparty being better than anything else we could have done.
    9. Almost getting killed by group of slightly homophobic people who don't take too kindly to being flipped off. No, actually.
    10. Underwear party with painting, uninvited upstairs guests entering in the most unusual way ever, and a group bath.
    11. Our paintings including peppercorns and bandages.
    12. The most awkward morning after this side of Mary finding out she was pregnant with Jesus.
    13. Random gay men being perfectly awesome to dance with.
    14. Short gay men running rampant!
    15. Go-Go Dancers!
    16. Someone totally fucking calling Piece of Me 8 seconds before it played.
    17. Alex passing out on the couch and us having to check to make sure he was alive and ensuring he was in the proper vomiting position.
    18. Nerdy straight boys? No.
    19. Once again making out with a gay boy.
    20. Mixing champagne, vodka, rockstar for the cocktail of doom.
    21. Drinking a silo, van, and bucket of alcohol.
    22. Spoon-dancing? Something involving spoons over our nipples and Landon grabbing my breasts for no apparent reason.
    23. Drinking while watching The Gods Must Be Crazy and thinking it was a documentary.
    24. The bathroom being the best fucking seat in the house.
    25. Corporate discussions on the balcony.

And now, I think I want to go smoke with Landon, my new BFF from last night. He and I might actually be the same person. We're trying to piece together the evening and all of us have different recollections of everything but something none of us can figure out is whether or not we were wearing pants when the guy scaled the wall, Spiderman-style.

I think I have strep again. This is so not my lifetime. If I get strep every time I hook up, I'm going to probably kill someone. I'm compensating by laying down and sleeping. Watching a lot of TV. I finished Season 1 of Dead Like Me. Now I'm going to start in on the Season 2, then it's totally time for The Hills. I'm still bizarrely infatuated with it.

This past weekend was Motion City and it was awesome to finally see them playing a headlining set. And I get to see them on Warped Tour. I won't go into details about the weekend, I just realize there are some things I need to change and ways I need to assert myself. This time I mean it, I'm coming clean. [While I was at the show, Jack text messaged me and it said "Someone just came on the walkie and said 'Hannah needs a new shirt' AND YOU MISSED IT!"]

Vancouver is soon but LA is sooner and I can't wait for either one. I'm going to work my tail off tomorrow at work and I'm also going to go get myself a bus pass for August. Okay, sleep for me now.

We're not that far from voting Feldman-Haim.

Today, I got to utter the best sentence ever and it is the only reason I know the movie I was watching was a good movie. "Everyone dies except Corey Feldman."

This has been a long week. I worked almost fifty hours at the office and another twenty at the theatre and when you're not getting paid for your overtime at the office, that's kind of a big deal. Thankfully, I went and drank with Meghan and watched Family Channel. Mitchell can attest to the fact that I love watching it when I'm drunk. I woke up one morning in our hotel room and it was on, apparently I made him leave it on that while we were trying to sleep.

I needed to just unwind and decompress last night after my week. I was ready to kill someone yesterday when I was in the office. Mostly Muthu. Who am I kidding, always Muthu.

Right! The reason for this blog: If you message on AIM and don't get a response right away, be patient. It's the conference of doom this week and I'm kind of all over the place. Don't give me death, even when I wish for it. And don't ask me why I just ate five Flinstone chewable vitamins in a row, because I wouldn't be able to tell you.

Anyway, I should attempt to get some sleep before tomorrow rolls around. I don't want to die before Corey Feldman.

I'm on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we had a list of basic manners at a movie theatre. I wish I could find it.

It's been a busy night tonight. Kung Fu Panda did the majority of our business tonight, which is so ridiculous because it looks terrible to me. I'd rather sit through a conversation with Tom Cruise than watch it. Hm, I'm a tad judgmental tonight. Whatever.

Normally I'm in a better mood but tonight is just. No. I usually have no problem with closing on a friday. I've done it for over 2 years. I have a problem when our only two full times go away for the weekend during summer blockbuster season.

It also occured to me that I haven't been on an honest to god date in two years. Which would make my last date Nick. No thanks. I need to go on a date or something.

Anyway, I'm ready to go home but I still have more than an hour left to go.

Happy Month of My Birth. I haven't been up to too much. Went to Seventeenth with Meghan on Friday before getting absolutely plastered with Chardonnay and Martini & Rossi. I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I'd spent all night making out with sandpaper. Obviously, I hadn't, but I had made some very, very unusual drunk dials. God bless wine and the fact that I'm old enough to drink it.

Saturday morning I had a hair appointment, so I now look like this:

Pardon the no make-up, but I'm tired.

    Anyway. Off to church now.

I'm kind of anal about the order of my books. They go alphabetical by author and then alphabetical by book title. Tonight, I was putting away The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks and I noticed I was missing one of my Dave Eggers books. I cannot find A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius! I do not know where it went, at all. I can only think of a few people I loan books to and I don't think any of them have it? If that's the case, I haven't actually had it with me for two years and it's currently sitting somewhere in my aunt's house in Edmonton. I knew living in that city for a month was a bad idea. Oh well, if I have to replace it, I have to. Shit happens.

I'm currently on Week 2 of my transit experiment. I'm still enjoying it, though I'm sure that will change once the weather turns nasty in the city. Today, I sat on the train and read about twenty pages of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. I'm enjoying that quite a bit. I'm not sure what I'm going to go with after I read that, but it'll be amusing as well.

I'm slowly depleting my massive reading list. Unfortunately, it's still going far too slow for my liking. I think what I'm going to do as a goal next year is get one of those "100 Books You Should Read" lists and try to get through all hundred of them in a year.

Instead of sleeping, I'm blogging and looking at other blogs. I wonder what people will think in twenty years when they think about us using blogs. Will they look at it the same way I look at writing in a paper journal? That is to say, will they think it's a romantic notion but find it difficult to keep up with and ultimately impossible to commit to?

Hm. Also, I'm avoiding the new Indiana Jones movie. I'm not into it, guys.
Last night at the theatre, we played Epic Battle With Star Wars Toys for two hours instead of being out on the floor like good managers. Blake, Deryck, and Matt showed up at the theatre around 6:30 p.m., still pretty drunk from their afternoon of playing golf on the company tab. Apparently they had to stay at the theatre until they sobered up enough to go to a goodbye party for the theatre's old district manager.

I come back into the office around 6:45 and they've set up two tables and all three of them are picking through action figures from
this set. Nadia and I watched them play their first round and then we joined in for the next round. We formed an alliance and completely owned the shit out of everyone else on the table.

It helps that Blake was hammered because he'd had three drinks and he's allergic to alcohol. Highlights of the night? One of the wookies looking like Cock Knocker from Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. Blake accidentally hitting me in the chest and Deryck saying "You shot where you aimed but you hit where you were looking", and the complete and total ownage of Matt.

After that, we kind of puttered around being completely useless until it was time to close, at which point Nadia and I killed time between closing the day numbers-wise and closing the theatre people-wise with Brickbreaker. I'm up to 9470 as a high score and I finally got to level 16. Unfortunately, that seems to be my Everest.

Well, I'm off to continue doing things for our marketing conference in June.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Fail

I'm so happy I didn't work Wednesday or Thursday evening at the theatre. There was so much fail going on tonight with my staff and my guests and my life.

First of all, I'm trying to go a little more green and start using public transportation. I should be rewarded for my efforts. Or they should at least go a little smoother than they went today. I woke up bright and early and caught the 7:11 a.m. bus to the train station and caught a train going the opposite way I wanted to go. This was on purpose. I'm one stop away from the end of the line and then I ride the train almost to the complete other end of the line. I wanted a seat. So, I took the train into downtown and everything went smoothly. It was nice out, I got to wear my sassy new raincoat and be gleeful that it was not yet raining.

I should've quit there. I should've quit right then and there and said "Thanks for the wonderful day, life." No, I got in and I did nothing but work for the entire day. Now, most days I'll make time to check out my favourite blogs and see what's going on in the world at large. There wasn't even time for that.

After work, I went to catch the bus to take me to the theatre. Now, I know the 301 takes me to the theatre. Great, I miss a 301 but the next one is due in 11 minutes. That's not horrible. I'll wait for it and feel awesome about myself for caring a little about the environment.

I got on the wrong 301. This one took me to the southwest rather than the northeast. Of course, I was reading The Zombie Survival Guide and learning how to do search and destroy/reclamation missions, so I didn't really pay attention to where I was going until I looked up and saw Bow Trail and 33rd Avenue SW. ... So not where I needed to be.

I get off at the next stop, cross the street and catch the other 301. Thusfar, I have managed to remain relatively dry. I board my 301 and it starts pissing rain from the sky and I have deal with a woman who not only wants her seat but also wants half of mine. I think, I can deal with this for a little longer. I get to my stop and finally, finally am at the theatre, half an hour late for my shift. I already know shit is going to be hitting the fan because there's no way in hell that Indiana Jones isn't busy. And that's when I start getting poured on.

Also, my staff are all incompetent and they know I hate them. New jobs, anyone?

Things that made today bearable: Starbucks water, Meghan, Adam, Shopper's Drugmart at 3 a.m., and Tabatha doing zombie watch for me while I peed.

Fail, Microsoft. This is why I don't pay for your products. Not only are they ridiculously overpriced, but you also make terrible products.

I'll be the first to admit, I am an Office junkie. Microsoft Office, not the television show. I can't help it. I was raised on PCs and I work with PCs but at home, I have a Macbook. Now, when they made Office 2008 for Macs, I was beyond stoked. Office? On a Mac? Hells yes. All the more reason to get one, right?

Wrong. I got a grey copy, which I'm all fine with because I don't really like supporting Microsoft, but then Mac gave me an update warning on my Office software. Okay, I'll install it, because the last time I didn't install an update, my computer wouldn't recognize CDs. Terrible, terrible. I installed it and then went to open a Word document. I was met with a registration request. Uh oh. This is no good because I don't have a Product ID number! And I can't do what it wants me to do [open the software and open the About portion of the Help tab] because I can't open the software without registering it!

In short, Microsoft is why we can't have nice things.

Good things about today? Green tea, Meghan hangouts, awesome new raincoats, cheap flats, and smoke seshes.

    Sleepy Melinda.

I finally unpacked today. I love using my day off for random, unimportant shit that I should be doing other days but just can't be bothered with. Here's hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow because I don't remember where I put my umbrella and I have too much to do tomorrow to have real life get in the way.

Speaking of the serious business that is real life, Meghan is awesome. She smokes all the crack I give her and she indulges me in 3 a.m. hangouts. It's the only time of day that really matters. Plus, I think we both remind ourselves that we're good people. At least I hope she remembers that because she makes me remember that.

I'm sick and somewhat delusional. When I run fevers, I look at pictures of caterpillars and this has been no exception to that rule. Right now, I'm in love with love and the way yellow looks with blue.

Busy week, busy life. Hair appointment on the 31st because seriously, totally as shallow as a kiddie pool.

All I want to do is listen to Manchester Orchestra's 'Golden Ticket' and remember that I still have a shot at life. If you haven't heard the song, I suggest you check it out. Andy fucking slays me every single day with the awesomeness of his mind. I want to bring a blanket and curl up in his head for a day.

    Good night.

Ha. Sidekick, your jealousy is both obvious and annoying. I notice that when I did not take my Blackberry back, you ceased to work again. Don't think I don't know what it is you're up to. Because I know.

Does anyone know how to stop their mind from racing for hours at a time. I need to get more than five hours of uninterrupted sleep at a time. I'm starting to worry that my outsides are going to match my insides soon. I can't have that happening. Won't have it happening.

    In more consumeristic news:

Can we please talk about how much I love horizontal stripes? Blah blah blah, unflattering but you know what? These hoodies are adorable. Kittens would be jealous. Speaking of kittens, I might get to see that sassy little kitten from last month.

I'm not holding my breath for my own sake, here.

    Oh. My. God.

Yes. So much yes. I ordered it today to wear to my next Communist Dance Party with Mitchell. I think it means we have to ditch the good vodka for Stoli, though.

You know how sometimes people will sneak up behind you and poke you in the sides? Someone did that to me on Sunday and I accidentally punched them in the face. Oops. My Dad was there and he just laughed and told James that he could've warned him that would happen.
