Coffee number one consumed and giving me the strength I need to carry on. Sometimes I look at my friends' blogs and realize I really am friends with such talented, creative people. If I ever wonder what I bring to the table, I try to remember that I keep them grounded.

You know you guys are always on my mind and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Meghan's birthday yesterday. Guys, she's OLD. She's 21 finally and what she should realize this means is that when we hit Chicago harder than a storm, we're going to be legal at any pub we go to.

My latest score on Brickbreaker is 227480 and I have 63 lives. The game has lost the challenge for me. Also, I got Blink tickets for July and it makes me sad to think I'm saying goodbye to them. But sometimes you have to cut out the things that hurt you.

In two weeks it will be the anniversary of my escape from the womb. I should celebrate but I'll instead be at work, slaving away and offering books to other people. Worst of all is the fact that I'll be working with Sean, who is approximately three feet tall.

I'm going to see Blink in July, even thought they're assholes who broke my heart and continue to do so. But come on, AAR is opening up for them! And while that's not as great as CCR, it's a start. AAR, FOB, B182. I can just make up a shot to go with each of those names and it'll be easy to get through the concert.

I need a new bookshelf. I must remind myself of that. New bookshelf takes precedence over a new TV. Especially since I so very rarely watch TV on my TV. So. This time, I want to get the Ikea Expedit, because I like the squares. Maybe I'll even use it to divide my books into categories. While I like what Mitchell did with his, I do not have the discipline to not have all of my books displayed. I could go through and weed some out, though.

One thing I would like to do is standardize editions. I dislike that certain trade paperbacks are bigger than other trades and I ABSOLUTELY HATE mass markets. If you want to incur my wrath, you present me with a mass-market movie tie-in edition. Sorry, I'm a little under/over-caffeinated right now.

Oh man. I always get so antsy when it comes time to leave the city. I wish I could just go right now. At least I didn't have any trouble getting to sleep last night. I won't have my blackberry and that'll be hella weird, but I'll be available via AIM. If you want to text or anything, you already have the number. Or you should. I'm looking at you on this one, Mitchell.

I'm actually pretty stoked on this trip, not gonna lie. But I also know Meghan and I are really just going to spend most of the plane ride planning out our next trip, logistics wise. Chicago in August, what of it? Probably not for Lollapolooza, unless we can maybe roll into town right around the time Manchester Orchestra is playing. I'd pretty much give both testicles [if I had them] to see those guys again.

    So much to do tonight.

    1. Get cigarettes
    2. Finish laundry
    3. Pack
    4. Get more Failbucks with Meghan
    5. Lift-Off!

She doesn't own a dress, her hair is always a mess...

Trashy Tuesday fun fact: I'm trying to go without shampooing every day. I know that's not particularly trashy, but it makes me feel trashy.

I have my Starbucks, and that's always a good time. Say what you want, but coffee makes it go faster.

I worked last night and I work again tonight. My feet are sore, but I still love Chapters. Suzanne pulled me in last night and told me because minimum wage went up in Alberta, my wage was adjusted. Weird. Definitely didn't know minimum wage went up. Oh well. I'll have an extra whatever amount on my cheque on Friday. That reminds me, I need to bring them a void cheque.

I'm reading a book called Clutter Busting:

It's all about the emotional weight we attach to stuff and how that's not really a good thing. For example, there was a man who avoided unpacking boxes for years and years, not really sure why he didn't, but he ended up opening one of the boxes and there was his marriage certificate. He had been divorced for three years. Once he was able to throw that out, he found it was easier to unpack the rest of the boxes and get rid of it.

I would like to find what that is for me, those objects that make me say "I can't move on." Maybe that's what I'll do on Friday.

It's two scant weeks until New York, which is going to be legen- wait for it- DARY! Oh, does it show that I've been watching more HIMYM? I have been. I've also decided this is the year I do all the touristy things I've wanted to do but put off because I knew they'd be ridiculously busy. So, Melinda sees the Statue of Liberty!

    1. I hate hold music, I don't care how awesome they try to make it. They could play Paper Planes over and over and over again and all that would happen is I would want to Pow Pow Pow. Actually, I think if all hold music was Paper Planes, I'd be much happier.

    2. I love espresso.

    3. I Am America (And So Can You) is so ridiculously offensive and awesome. I wholeheartedly endore Stephen Colbert's use of satire.

    4. Hannah got fired! Team Hannah has been buzzing with text messages this morning. Information is sketchy right now, but it seems to have happened last night, which means were I still an employee of the theatre, I would've been one of the people responsible for Team Hannah's great sadness.

    5. As a remnant of my youth, I still enjoy sitting cross-legged in chairs. I'm doing so at my desk right now as I drink coffee and blog about mundane things from my mundane life.

    6. In the vein of The Muppet Christmas Carol, which I love and if anyone loves me back they will find it for me by next Christmas, I shall leave you with a modified version of one song: After all there's only three more sleeps 'til Chicaaaago.

My word! It's been forever since I blogged, eight whole days. I've been keeping myself very busy between ________ Night Girl's Club, Chapters, and work. In there, I've found time to book myself a flight to Vancouver, be awesome, and drink about 6 more shots of espresso a day than any person should consume.

C'est la vie. Tout va bien.

That was a few hours ago. I take it back. Tout ne va pas bien. I just got back from seeing the doctor and I'm getting tested for Strep and Mono. Je n'aime pas.

Anyway, now that I've wasted 3 hours at the doctor's office, I've got to catch up at work.

Oh my God. Epic fail on the weather's behalf. It's -44 with windchill. How is that possible? My fingertips are still tender from walking in this morning. I don't care how lazy it looks, I'm taking a cab from my office to the train station. I stopped twice this morning during the seven blocks and it was nowhere near enough.

The Christmas party was a lot of fun on the weekend. The highlight was definitely talking Ryan Adams with the resident werewolf. He and I both really like him and this was the first time we'd ever discussed it. He also got to see Wilco. My jealousy was showing.

I'm currently downloading several albums to give to him, because no one should have to wait to listen to Ryan Adams.

Starbucks effed my drinks up this morning. Fail. But that seems to be the case more and more when I go in there. Oh well. I guess it's really my own fault, right? Learn me to be addicted to Starbucks.

Also, be it forever known that Meghan is The Shit for taking in drunk girls and putting up with their rambling that makes no sense. ilu.

Tonight is dinner with Blaine and co. Chapters called to see if I could come in tonight and if I didn't want to see *a movie so badly tonight, I might've said yes. It would've gotten me out of dinner.

Oh well, I'll suck it up [that's what SHE said] and go to dinner. Meghan is my emergency call at 8 p.m. and if I'm not dead from the amount of dairy I've consumed today, I'll go have mini-hangs with her.

It's two weeks to Christmas day! Do you know what your presents are?

*Twilight. Again. Oh my God, that movie is never not funny.

    Tuesday, November 25, 2008

I just got invited to Wingo. Wings+Bingo=Awesome Tuesday Night? Maybe, maybe. Except that I only eat wings in certain company because they're so messy and the last time I played Bingo, I was too drunk for real life.

Oh well, it's a Tuesday. Hey Lush, have fun.

Mitchell likes the hair, Meghan likes the hair, I like the hair. Everyone seems to like the hair, so I think I'll make it my signature. Like Lucille Ball's lips.

Meghan and I are going to see Twilight again. Yes, we're ridiculous, but seriously. I don't think we've ever had so much fun watching a movie! Maybe this time we'll bring booze in and play the drinking game. Seriously, that vomit face? Never not good. Also, I definitely just told her: I'll get the tickets, you get the failbucks?

The back of my hand is itchy. When your palm is itchy, it means you're going to get money. I think the back of my hand is itchy because I want to spend money. I'm done my Christmas shopping so that just means shopping for myself. Oh! I got a free subscription to Nylon, which is fun. I didn't think I would because normally those offers don't extend to Canada, but this one did and it was awesome to come home last night and find the new issue in my mailbox, just waiting for me.

If I don't go to Wingo tonight, it's laundry and cleaning, something I've totally neglected in the past few weeks. Oh well, c'est la vie. Maybe just one round.

"Money. Sex. Money. Money. Sex. Money. Cats."

    Fuck, some people are twats.

Meghan, I'll tell you who tomorrow when we're having hangs, because what else do we do with our lives? Also, I have some of that faily eyelash glue still stuck to my eyelashes. That's just not fair.

Last night, pre-Twilight, post-ogling my hot-ass manager, Meghan and I came to the conclusion that we're roommates that live in different houses. For example. I will wander over to her place and go in and curl up on her bed while waiting for her to finish getting ready so we can go out and do the same thing we always do [Starbucks, smoke our faces off, and talk about Monoply/Life: The FBR edition]. Or we will go to Chapters and it's not even in question if she can use my employee discount. Basically, it rules.

I think I'm pretty much done with Facebook. It just annoys me now.

The plan this weekend is to be at home for as much of it as possible and rip the last of my CDs, get my paperwork all filed, and be ready for winter. I bought a turtleneck today and it itches like Gabe's crotch. But it looks cute, unlike Gabe's crotch, so I'm keeping it.

I work tonight and I'm so excited, now when they page a cashier to cash, I can actually answer the page.

    This weekend:
    • Laundry
    • Put away CDs
    • Finish The Rules of Attraction
    • Clean room from top to bottom
    • Clean bathroom
    • Go through closet
    • Put up TC prints, my walls are too bare
    • Get my haircut? Maybe?

I also don't really know how I feel about this because, wow, I've wanted that forever. But. Wow. I don't want to think about that because that'll get my hopes up. I think what I'll just say is that I hope things work out for the best for everyone.

Oy vey it's a been awhile. Things are a lot better on my end. The Conference 'O' Doom is over and I no longer have to meet in the boardroom for six hours out of what were turning into ten hour days. I'm grateful for everyone who kept me sane. They know who they are.

As of right now, I'm setting a new list of goals for myself because the old ones belonged to the old blog which belonged to the old me. There are things I find more important now than getting a huge record collection or seeing a certain band a certain number of times. Like I said, this time I mean it, I'm coming clean.

Meghan and I had Starbucks hangs last night and the newest love of my life is Venti Iced Passion Tea Lemonade Unsweetened. Sorry, guys, you can't compete. I'm in the middle of reading Mailman and I wish it would hurry up and get to something interesting. The premise sounded so promising. That's what she said.

I have two flights coming up in two months and I'm deathly excited for both of them. Seeing someone too often spoils me but not seeing them often enough makes my heart break a little more.

Fail, Microsoft. This is why I don't pay for your products. Not only are they ridiculously overpriced, but you also make terrible products.

I'll be the first to admit, I am an Office junkie. Microsoft Office, not the television show. I can't help it. I was raised on PCs and I work with PCs but at home, I have a Macbook. Now, when they made Office 2008 for Macs, I was beyond stoked. Office? On a Mac? Hells yes. All the more reason to get one, right?

Wrong. I got a grey copy, which I'm all fine with because I don't really like supporting Microsoft, but then Mac gave me an update warning on my Office software. Okay, I'll install it, because the last time I didn't install an update, my computer wouldn't recognize CDs. Terrible, terrible. I installed it and then went to open a Word document. I was met with a registration request. Uh oh. This is no good because I don't have a Product ID number! And I can't do what it wants me to do [open the software and open the About portion of the Help tab] because I can't open the software without registering it!

In short, Microsoft is why we can't have nice things.

Good things about today? Green tea, Meghan hangouts, awesome new raincoats, cheap flats, and smoke seshes.

    Thursday, May 15, 2008

I keep looking over at my suitcases like they'll unpack themselves. Too bad they won't. I love how I can wear a pair of tights for a day and manage to punch so many holes in them.

Today was the AGM at work and I finally talked to someone about hooking up with Scott. It's kind of weird. Andrew came over and was all "How you doin'?" And Oliver just looked at me and told me that he hoped that wasn't some sort of message from Scott.

Busy busy busy at work and not loving it. I hate going away and coming back to find everything fucked right up. But I guess that happens when you do specific things every day. That makes no sense to anyone but me. I'm in charge of documentation for the international shipments of my company. I came back to find about eight shipments stuck in customs in various countries. Unfortunately, I can't do much about them because I'm not listed on any of the paperwork. Ugh. Office space.

I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.

Tomorrow night [actually tonight], I'm going for Starbucks with Meghan where we will discuss her New Favourite Band, ridiculous people, and our ridiculous lives.

    Sunday, April 13, 2008

New phone. New number. Me and my Blackberry are certainly very happy together. I'll still have to use my American phone when I'm in the states.

It was a perfect 20 degrees today and it was so happymaking while we were sitting outside of Starbucks, talking about music and Scrubs. Seriously. Such a Scrubs kick lately. It's kind of amazing.

I'm ridiculously exhausted so let's just say there's nothing better than good friends, good hangs, and good tea.
